Ridgefield Project
From the beginning, the design intent was to weave the changes to this space effortlessly with the rest of the home. Often the biggest mistake that happens in a one-room renovation, is when a finished space sticks out from everything else around it. The key to a successful one-room renovation is identifying the existing palette of the home and using that to inform the new additions.
This renovation focused on keeping elements of the existing kitchen that the clients loved, like the dark, granite countertops and the small desk nook and making selections that truly complimented those existing elements.
The space was reprogrammed to replace an existing two-tier island with a single height island, maximizing the prep space, while adding extra functions like integrated waste receptacles and drawers for storage.
The upper cabinets were replaced with full-height cabinets that met the ceiling and the pantry was modified to suit the new appliances.
Cork floors were chosen for extra cushion and support and a neutral green wall colour complimented the rest of the colour palette.
